REVIEW: Beauty Supplements from Shiseido

I have been traveling back and forth to Japan for the past 3 years and since then I've kept on bringing home some of my favorite Japanese products which include these two from Shiseido: The Collagen and Pure White.
I first saw them back in 2013 when my cousin would bring home a box full of these tablets for reselling here in Manila. I was quite hesitant to try back then because I believe that one can achieve really beautiful skin with good hygiene, a good diet, and of course exercise. But hey, I'm not getting any younger and I honestly think it's time for me to pop these pills. Hahaha.

Let's first discuss The Collagen. You get a total of 126 tablets per bottle and the recommended daily dosage is 6 (3 after breakfast and 3 after dinner). This product contains the following: Collagen 1,000mg, Hyaluronic Acid 5mg, Ceramide 600 micro grams, GABA 28mg, Ornithine 28mg, Royal Jelly 50mg.

Before we move forward, you might wonder, "What are the damn benefits of taking collagen supplements?" Well, first of all, Collagen is an extremely important fibrous protein that is found in connective tissue – it’s in our bones, our joints and is also a major component of our skin. The word collagen comes from the ancient Greek word κόλλα (kolla), which translates to “glue”. This is perfectly apt as its function is to hold our body together, like glue, providing firmness and strength. Unfortunately, our natural collagen production decreases as we age.

So what have I noticed so far in the past months of taking them? First, my skin is not as dry as compared before. I hate wearing lotion and taking collagen definitely helped in softening my skin and making it feel a little firmer than usual. Second, I rarely experience breakouts. It helps to have a good hygiene too! I swear by VMV products, only VMV touches my skin. Haha. Last but not the least, it kinda helped heal my bone problems. I no longer experience the pain of having rheumatoid arthritis and plantar fasciitis!

Let's move forward to Pure White. The photo you see above is the latest packaging so make sure you buy the right product. Shiseido's Pure White is basically a glutathione type of beauty supplement where the main goal is to lighten your skin. If you follow my trips on The Travel Junkie, you'll notice that I went on a back to back to back beach trips from June to October 2016. My skin easily darkens when I'm under the sun and VMV's Armada (SPF 70) helps a lot in protecting my skin but still it's not enough.

I'm already on my second bottle (which by the way contains 270 tablets and is good for a month or so) and so far I've noticed instant results. I take 4 tablets in the morning and 4 before sleeping. My skin obviously looks lighter as compared to waiting and letting my skin go back to its color naturally.

Don't get me wrong here, I have no intentions of having pure white skin because hey, I'm Asian and having brown skin is perfectly normal. I'm just taking this supplement to get my original skin tone back (faster than usual) and have that glowing skin look on my wedding which is happening by the end of March 2017.

For faster result, some suggest taking Vitamin C supplements. But honestly, I don't believe in taking them. I get my Vitamin C by adding slices of lemon and cucumber to my water on a daily basis, at least I get to cleanse my body naturally.

So would I recommend these supplements? Definitely! Where to buy in the Philippines? You may order from my cousin since his brother is based in Japan. Check out their Facebook page here. But when in Japan, I usually get my stocks from Matsumoto Kiyoshi where I noticed that price differs depending on the location.

That's it for now! I will try to upload pics of myself once I am done using these products to show how satisfied I am with the results. ;) Thanks for dropping by!
